Self-Portraits

In a defensive pose, contemplative or holding a glass of sparkling wine: time and again across the centuries, artists have painted their own likenesses – portraying themselves in many different situations and mental states, alone or surrounded by their families. The emotions they depict using a wide variety of painting techniques range from despair to elation.
