With its host of masterpieces the Städel Museum brings together 700 years of European art history. To be able to maintain this in the future, the collection is being expanded and developed each year in various ways: acquisitions are made from the collection’s own budget and with the support of charitable foundations. The Städelsche Museums-Verein also acquires works for the museum, while generous donations from private individuals and artists continue Friedrich Städel’s tradition. The Städel Committee of the 21st century is committed to expanding the field of contemporary art. We are delighted by the many new acquisitions. Which is why we present a selection of these here.
