About the Acquisition

This drawing was acquired with the money donated by Wilhelm Winterstein, a private banker in Munich. He made the financial contribution on the occasion of the retirement of Margret Stuffmann, the long-standing head of the Collection of Prints and Drawings at the Städelsches Kunstinstitut and also in memory of his parents, the collectors Alfred and Elisabeth Winterstein. In 2014 Wilhelm Winterstein was awarded the Maecenas Tribute by the 'Arbeitskreis selbständiger Kultur-Institute e.V. (AsKI)' for his outstanding commitment to art and culture in Germany.
