About the Work

The Master PM executed only five engravings of which none have survived in more than three prints. They all focus primarily on figures, especially nudes. The study of the nude after nature was a “modern” artistic method. The bodies of Christ and the two thieves in this 'Mount Calvary' may go back to such studies. Perhaps the Master PM produced his engravings primarily as models for other pictorial artists.
