Biography

Member of the Guild of St Luke in Haarlem. Two of his paintings are dated 1648; in an old auction catalogue, one is described with the date 1646. In the estate of the Amsterdam painter and art dealer Cornelis Doeck, who died in May 1664, two of Gras's small landscapes are appraised together at a modest eight gulden.

Roughly ten Gras landscapes in the Haarlem mould with figural staffage are known, all in emulation of Jacob van Ruisdael.
