About the Acquisition

In 2011 the Städel's collection of contemporary art was considerably expanded when Margarethe and Klaus Posselt donated a total of thirteen paintings, nine objects and forty-eight graphic works to the museum. This outstanding donation included important works by German artists, with a focus on the 1950s and 1960s. Margarethe Posselt began her activities as a collector with her husband in Frankfurt during the 1960s. In 1992 she established a gallery for contemporary art in Bonn: the Kunstraum MI Posselt.
