About the Work

The three montages belong to that genre of humorous erotic images that enjoyed great popularity with the increasing distribution of photographs in journals and as postcards after the First World War. The Wlassics, a married couple, staged the nude or scantily clad – as well as extensively retouched – female body in countless variations, lascivious, grotesque or comical. In these pictures the old order between the sexes seems to be restored with a wink.
