About the Work

Blinky Palermo not only created the work, but also provided the assembly instructions. 'Blue Triangle' is the simple material for an interactive artwork as defined by Minimal Art. In the text accompanying this work, the artist invites the viewer to lend a hand himself. The result is that individual artistic gestures lose some of their validity. The choice of position which the protagonist decides on is of fundamental significance. Palermo repeatedly undertook visual changes in the form of various geometrical wall paintings. He wanted to set a new standard of seeing in the Constructivist style. At the same time, the art market is subverted through the demand to pass on the original, in that a tradable commodity no longer exists. Even though the artist, who died at the early age of thirty-six, did not want to be classified within any kind of '-ism', he consciously moved in the field of tension between Minimal Art and Fluxus.
