Biography

Orazio Samacchini (born in Bologna in 1532; died in Bologna in 1577), was trained in his home town. According to Lomazzo, he was a pupil of Ercole Procaccini, though others say Pellegrino Tibaldi. In 1563/64, he was involved in fresco painting at the Vatican under Taddeo Zuccari. In 1570 he had a contract concluded in Parma for frescoes in the cathedral (realised 1570-74).
