Giacomo Guardi was born in Venice in 1764. He trained under his father, the famous painter Francesco Guardi (1712-1793), after whose death he took over the workshop himself and continued to work in his father's style, though without achieving the same quality. Very little is known about his life and work. He died in Venice in 1835.
