Luca Cambiaso (born in Moneglia in 1527; died in San Lorenzo de El Escorial in 1585), was a pupil and collaborator of his father, Giovanni; from roughly 1550 they realised extensive decorative projects in Genoese palaces and churches. In 1551 he served as consul of the Genoese painters' guild 'arte dei pittori'. In 1583 he was summoned to Spain by Philipp II to paint in the Escorial. He was a much-imitated master, especially influential with his drawings.
