Biography

Berto di Giovanni (born ca. 1470?; died in Perugia in 1529) is first documented in 1488. In 1495, he was a pupil and collaborator of Pietro Perugino. In December 1505, together with Raphael, he received the commission for an Assumption of the Virgin for Santa Maria di Monteluce, Perugia. (The contract was renewed in 1516, but the altarpiece was completed only after Raphael's death by his pupils.)
