Works displaying Balthazar

According to extrabiblical tradition, Balthazar is the name of one of the "astrologers" (literally magicians) from the East who, according to Matthew's account, were led by a star to the birthplace of Christ in Bethlehem. Together with Caspar and Melchior, the wise men also known as the "Three Wise Men (or Magi)" paid homage to the Child Jesus and offered him gold, incense and myrrh as gifts (cf. Mt 2:1−12; Ps 72:10; Is 60:3).
