The animal kingdom in Art

Savage lions, brightly coloured birds and tame monkeys: the exploration of animals in art covers a broad spectrum. In many still lifes they are portrayed in a lifeless state, whereas other paintings produce what are almost animal character studies. Either way, there is plenty going on in the animal kingdom.
